Governance Arrangements

For details of how we fit into the NHS see the NHS Structure explained on the NHS England website. NHS Newark and Sherwood CCG is overseen by NHS England, which is a national body formed under the 2012 Act.  Local offices of the NHS England will oversee CCGs and also manage primary care commissioning, including holding GP practices NHS contracts.

The CCG's Constitution has been signed up to by all of its member practices and which sets out various matters including:

  • The arrangements that it has made to discharge its functions and those of its governing body
  • Its key processes for decision making, including arrangements for securing transparency in the decision making of the group and its governing body; and
  • The arrangements made for discharging its duties with regard to registers of interest and managing conflicts of interest.

NHS Newark and Sherwood CCG has a Governing Body responsible for ensuring that the CCG has appropriate arrangements in place to exercise its functions effectively, efficiently and economically and in accordance with the Clinical Commissioning Group’s principles of good governance. Information that has been held previously by NHS Rushcliffe, NHS Nottingham West, NHS Nottingham City, NHS Nottingham North and East, NHS Mansfield and Ashfield, and NHS Newark and Sherwood CCGS is transferring to the new CCG NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG on 1 April 2020.
